On June 4th, 2019 a memorial was held honouring Bruce's work, as part of the Canadian Philosophical Association's annual congress. Below are Dr. Sylvia Berryman and Dr. Alison Wylie's comments from the session:
The ACPA's Equity Committee also delivered the following In Memoriam statement at the 2019 General Meeting of the ACPA:
Bruce Ferguson, an Indigenous philosophy student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey, BC, has been engaged in various efforts to promote Indigenous philosophy in Canadian philosophy departments. Bruce was a member of the Indigenizing philosophy subcommittee. We were saddened to learn that Bruce Ferguson died this year. The Equity committee is grateful for his work in advancing Indigenous philosophy and Bruce Ferguson’s contributions will be missed.
